The Foundation

Composer Luc Brewaeys passed away on December 18, 2015. With him one of the most personal and original voices from the Belgian musical scene disappeared. His music deserves continued attention. For this reason, the VZW Luc Brewaeys Foundation was founded on July 13, 2023. Members are Jerry Aerts, Laura Brewaeys (treasurer), Marie-Christine Janssens, Melissa Portaels, Jan Raes (chairman) and Birgit Van Cleemput (secretary). The non-profit organization strives for the preservation, distribution, promotion and performance of his music.

Mission

The mission of the foundation is to preserve, unlock, and pass on the legacy of Luc Brewaeys to future generations. This involves highlighting the versatility of his music, which spans across symphonic works, vocal compositions, spectralism, and virtuosity. The foundation also aims to provide context, offering a retrospective view of his work while looking ahead to future creative endeavors.

Archive
